12月24日から、マレーシアのセパン・サーキットでスーパーGT500クラスに参戦する5台のマシンがテストを開始した。
今回のテストは24日のクリスマスイブからスタート。初日は午前はドライだったものの、午後からはウエットとなった。参加したのは5台で、レクサス陣営は38号車セルモ、19号車バンドウの2台が参加。こちらはカラーリングや装着タイヤ、ドライバーは2012年と変更はない。
一方、ニッサン陣営は2台が参加。24号車KONDOは安田裕信に加え、ミハエル・クルムがステアリングを握る場面も。また、ニッサン開発車である230号車は、今年のニスモ23号車同様のカラーリングだが、ミシュランタイヤを装着。ドライバーは柳田真孝／ロニー・クインタレッリというミシュランには馴染みがあるドライバーだが、このカラーリングでの走行は新鮮なものとなった。
また、ホンダからはダンロップ装着のEPSON HSV-010がテストに参加。ドライバー面では、道上龍に加え中嶋大祐が乗り込む場面も見られた。
来季に向けたストーブリーグについても注目の今回のセパンテスト。25日は休息日となり、26日～27日とテストが行われる予定だ。

株式会社スクウェア・エニックスは、プレイステーション3/Windows用MMORPG「ファイナルファンタジーXIV: 新生エオルゼア（以下、FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア）」の最新情報を伝える生放送ライブ「新情報初公開！吉田プロデューサーと生実況！ ファイナルファンタジーXIV: 新生エオルゼアα版」をニコニコ生放送でライブ放送した。

イベントでは、ニコニコ生放送のスタジオに「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」のプロデューサー兼ディレクターの吉田直樹氏をはじめ、ニコニコ動画管理人のひろゆき氏、今回の生放送のディレクターひげおやじ氏らが出演。
まもなく終了するαテスト版でインスタンスダンジョンや大人数戦闘をプレイしながらの実況中継や、「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」のスペック別比較などを行なった。また生産クラスの最終装備や、新しく登場する種族の初期装備のスクリーンショットも公開された。
さらに、放送終了後の0時には、公式プレーヤサイトThe Loadstoneでβテストのロードマップが掲載された。放送でもβテストの参加条件が細かく紹介された。この記事では、発表された最新情報を中心に放送の様子をお伝えしたい。
αテストは日本人：外国人の参加者が半々。北米からのFBは日本の3倍
放送前に行なわれたアンケートでは82％がアカウント所持者だったが、これが初めての出会いという人向けに、イベントの冒頭には吉田氏が「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」を全く知らない人向けにゲームのこれまでの歩みを紹介した。
「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」は27日までαテストが開催中で、26日の夜が日本では最後のピークタイムになることから、ゲーム内のテスターもイベントに参加してサーバーが落ちるほどの盛況となった。現在は日本以外に北米とフランス、ドイツでテストが行われており、日本プレーヤーと海外のプレーヤー比率は1：1程度。αテスト専用フォーラムでは、北米からのフィードバックが実に日本の3倍も寄せられているのだそうだ。吉田氏も世界言語を話せるスタッフと共に各国のプレーヤーからの質問に答えている。
生放送では、まず明日公開予定のα版プレイデモ第8弾となるインスタンスダンジョン「タムタラの墓所」のプレイ動画が、吉田氏の解説付きで先行上映された。「タムタラの墓所」は15レベルから入れる序盤のインスタンスダンジョン。ダンジョンの中央には紫に輝く謎のオブジェがあり、その封印を解きながら先に進んでいく。
少人数で攻略するインスタンスダンジョンは、昔のファミコンやスーファミ時代の「FF」を意識したギミックがあり、ただモンスターを倒していくだけではなく謎を解きながら楽しくレベル上げできるような場所として構築されている。
低いスペックのPCでもハイクオリティなグラフィックスが快適に楽しめる
旧バージョンではかなりのPCスペックを要求されたが、「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」はゲームエンジンを作り直して、ロースペックPCでも快適にプレイできるよう設計し直されている。
生放送の中で、吉田氏とひろゆき氏がそれぞれロースペックとハイスペックのPCを使って「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」をプレイした。それぞれのスペックでの特徴などを紹介した。使用したマシンのスペックは以下のようなもの。
・ロースペック
Core2Duo 3.0GHz/8800GT/Windows8 pro（64bit）
・ミドルスペック
Corei5 750 2.66GHz/RADEON HD5750/Windows8 pro（64bit）
・ハイスペック
Corei7 3.5GHz/GTX680/Windows8 pro（64bit）
吉田氏は、できるだけ多くのプレーヤーを同時に描画するという方向でのMMORPGづくりを進めている。大勢の人間が同時に存在することで、その世界に生きている感じがするのが理由で、「例えば世界の片隅で釣りをしている時に、ものすごく遠くの対岸でそこにも釣りをしている人がいるとか、そういう感覚が好きです」（吉田氏）ということだ。
いずれのスペックでも、人が少ない場所では最高設定でもフレームレートが落ちることなくサクサクと動いた。ロースペックでは、キャラクターが集まってくるとさすがにフレームレートが低下した。LOD（レベルオブディティール）機能によって、遠くのキャラクターはポリゴン数を抑えた簡易なモデルにシームレスに置き換わるため、ロースペックでもぱっと見でそれと分かるほどのグラフィックスの劣化はなく、ハイスペックPCと同様に遊べるようだ。今後はさらにスペックの高いベリーハイPCのユーザー向けに、水の表現などの品質を上げるリフレクションのオプションを追加することになっている。
また、まだ試作段階としながら、Windows 8のタッチパネル操作に対応したクライアントも、吉田氏が実際に、指でドラッグ＆ドロップしたりアクションを発動して見せた。「できるだけたくさんの方に遊んでもらうために、遊べる環境を増やすことは強く意識してやっています」（吉田氏）。
プロデューサーLiveでおなじみの特撰画像ちょっと出しは今回も行われた。吉田氏がデザイナーの席から持ってきたと言う、クラフターの最終装備と新しく追加されるミコッテ男性やルガディン女性の初期装備などのスクリーンショットが公開された。
ヒューラン女性と一緒に写っているチョコボや、鍛冶師と一緒にいるボムはβテストから導入される、あまり成長要素の絡まないちょっとした遊びのコンテンツになるらしい。
αテストのワールド内でプレーヤー1,000人が参加した大規模バトルイベント
ゲーム内と連動したイベントでは、最初にひろゆき氏と吉田氏らがパーティーを組んで「タムタラの墓所」にチャレンジ。実際にユーザーとしてテストに参加しているひろゆき氏が弓術士で慣れたプレイを披露した。グリダニアに集まっていたキャラクターが、放送を見て一斉にテレポしたためサーバーが落ちるアクシデントも。
その後は、キャンプ・トランキルに移動してGMがこのイベント用にポップさせた巨大ボスと戦闘した。集まってきたキャラクターは1,000人以上。あまりにも多すぎる人数に巨大ボスも瞬殺されてしまい、最後にはとうとう50レベルのボスが出現した。さすがに強く、ひとなぎでその場にいたキャラクターがバタバタと倒れていく阿鼻叫喚の光景に。
それでもサーバーは落ちず、αテスト当初の目的だった1つワールドで1,000人が同時戦闘をしても落ちないという目標が達成されていることの証左になった。ちなみにこの夜には、イベントが開催されていなかったBahamutワールドでも、街に巨大ボスが出現するGMイベントも同時に開催されていた。
ひろゆき氏は「以前のバージョンで走り回っても何もないと言うのを経験していたので、今回の完成度が異常に高いことに驚いた。今後が楽しみ」とベータ版に期待を込めた。ニコニコ生放送でのイベントは今後も可能であれば定期的に開催したいと吉田氏。最終的には6万人を超える視聴者が来場して、スタジオだけでなく、視聴者や、ゲーム内のプレーヤーも一緒に楽しめたイベントだった。
CBTの詳細が分かるロードマップを公開。スタートは2月中旬から
イベントが終了した約1時間後、12月27日0時に「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」クローズドβテスト（CBT）のロードマップが公開された。CBTではゲームのバランス調整やデバッグ、「現行FFXIV」からのデータ引き継ぎテストなどが行なわれる。スタート時期は2013年2月中旬ごろ。4つのフェーズで構成され、各フェーズは1～4週間で、間に1～2週間の修正期間が入る。
「現行FFXIV」でレガシーの資格を取ったプレーヤーはフェーズ1から応募の必要なく参加できる。「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」のαテスト参加者もできるだけ早めに優先的にプレイできるようにするという。またフェーズ3からはプレイステーション3版のテストもスタートする。「ファイナルファンタジーFXIII」のパッケージについていた、βテスト優先参加チケットを持っていれば優先的に参加することができる。フェーズ3からは「現行FFXIV」のアカウント所持者は全員無条件でテストに参加できるようになる。CBTの後には、無条件で誰でも参加できるオープンβテストも予定されている。
αテストからのキャラクターデータの引継ぎはなく、CBT中もフェーズごとにデータはデリートされる。ワールド数は当初は10～15ワールドで、フェーズ3以降順次増やしていく。キャラクターレベルは35まで開放される。それぞれのフェーズでどんなことがテストされるかについては、以下の通りだ。βテストの応募方法やスケジュール、各フェーズの詳細は2013年1月上旬にオープン予定の「新生FFXIV βテスター応募サイト」で発表される。

「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」は27日までαテストが開催中で、26日の夜が日本では最後のピークタイムになることから、ゲーム内のテスターもイベントに参加してサーバーが落ちるほどの盛況となった。現在は日本以外に北米とフランス、ドイツでテストが行われており、日本プレーヤーと海外のプレーヤー比率は1：1程度。αテスト専用フォーラムでは、北米からのフィードバックが実に日本の3倍も寄せられているのだそうだ。吉田氏も世界言語を話せるスタッフと共に各国のプレーヤーからの質問に答えている。
生放送では、まず明日公開予定のα版プレイデモ第8弾となるインスタンスダンジョン「タムタラの墓所」のプレイ動画が、吉田氏の解説付きで先行上映された。「タムタラの墓所」は15レベルから入れる序盤のインスタンスダンジョン。ダンジョンの中央には紫に輝く謎のオブジェがあり、その封印を解きながら先に進んでいく。
少人数で攻略するインスタンスダンジョンは、昔のファミコンやスーファミ時代の「FF」を意識したギミックがあり、ただモンスターを倒していくだけではなく謎を解きながら楽しくレベル上げできるような場所として構築されている。
低いスペックのPCでもハイクオリティなグラフィックスが快適に楽しめる
旧バージョンではかなりのPCスペックを要求されたが、「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」はゲームエンジンを作り直して、ロースペックPCでも快適にプレイできるよう設計し直されている。
生放送の中で、吉田氏とひろゆき氏がそれぞれロースペックとハイスペックのPCを使って「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」をプレイした。それぞれのスペックでの特徴などを紹介した。使用したマシンのスペックは以下のようなもの。
・ロースペック
Core2Duo 3.0GHz/8800GT/Windows8 pro（64bit）
・ミドルスペック
Corei5 750 2.66GHz/RADEON HD5750/Windows8 pro（64bit）
・ハイスペック
Corei7 3.5GHz/GTX680/Windows8 pro（64bit）
吉田氏は、できるだけ多くのプレーヤーを同時に描画するという方向でのMMORPGづくりを進めている。大勢の人間が同時に存在することで、その世界に生きている感じがするのが理由で、「例えば世界の片隅で釣りをしている時に、ものすごく遠くの対岸でそこにも釣りをしている人がいるとか、そういう感覚が好きです」（吉田氏）ということだ。
いずれのスペックでも、人が少ない場所では最高設定でもフレームレートが落ちることなくサクサクと動いた。ロースペックでは、キャラクターが集まってくるとさすがにフレームレートが低下した。LOD（レベルオブディティール）機能によって、遠くのキャラクターはポリゴン数を抑えた簡易なモデルにシームレスに置き換わるため、ロースペックでもぱっと見でそれと分かるほどのグラフィックスの劣化はなく、ハイスペックPCと同様に遊べるようだ。今後はさらにスペックの高いベリーハイPCのユーザー向けに、水の表現などの品質を上げるリフレクションのオプションを追加することになっている。
また、まだ試作段階としながら、Windows 8のタッチパネル操作に対応したクライアントも、吉田氏が実際に、指でドラッグ＆ドロップしたりアクションを発動して見せた。「できるだけたくさんの方に遊んでもらうために、遊べる環境を増やすことは強く意識してやっています」（吉田氏）。
プロデューサーLiveでおなじみの特撰画像ちょっと出しは今回も行われた。吉田氏がデザイナーの席から持ってきたと言う、クラフターの最終装備と新しく追加されるミコッテ男性やルガディン女性の初期装備などのスクリーンショットが公開された。
ヒューラン女性と一緒に写っているチョコボや、鍛冶師と一緒にいるボムはβテストから導入される、あまり成長要素の絡まないちょっとした遊びのコンテンツになるらしい。
αテストのワールド内でプレーヤー1,000人が参加した大規模バトルイベント
ゲーム内と連動したイベントでは、最初にひろゆき氏と吉田氏らがパーティーを組んで「タムタラの墓所」にチャレンジ。実際にユーザーとしてテストに参加しているひろゆき氏が弓術士で慣れたプレイを披露した。グリダニアに集まっていたキャラクターが、放送を見て一斉にテレポしたためサーバーが落ちるアクシデントも。
その後は、キャンプ・トランキルに移動してGMがこのイベント用にポップさせた巨大ボスと戦闘した。集まってきたキャラクターは1,000人以上。あまりにも多すぎる人数に巨大ボスも瞬殺されてしまい、最後にはとうとう50レベルのボスが出現した。さすがに強く、ひとなぎでその場にいたキャラクターがバタバタと倒れていく阿鼻叫喚の光景に。
それでもサーバーは落ちず、αテスト当初の目的だった1つワールドで1,000人が同時戦闘をしても落ちないという目標が達成されていることの証左になった。ちなみにこの夜には、イベントが開催されていなかったBahamutワールドでも、街に巨大ボスが出現するGMイベントも同時に開催されていた。
ひろゆき氏は「以前のバージョンで走り回っても何もないと言うのを経験していたので、今回の完成度が異常に高いことに驚いた。今後が楽しみ」とベータ版に期待を込めた。ニコニコ生放送でのイベントは今後も可能であれば定期的に開催したいと吉田氏。最終的には6万人を超える視聴者が来場して、スタジオだけでなく、視聴者や、ゲーム内のプレーヤーも一緒に楽しめたイベントだった。
CBTの詳細が分かるロードマップを公開。スタートは2月中旬から
イベントが終了した約1時間後、12月27日0時に「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」クローズドβテスト（CBT）のロードマップが公開された。CBTではゲームのバランス調整やデバッグ、「現行FFXIV」からのデータ引き継ぎテストなどが行なわれる。スタート時期は2013年2月中旬ごろ。4つのフェーズで構成され、各フェーズは1～4週間で、間に1～2週間の修正期間が入る。
「現行FFXIV」でレガシーの資格を取ったプレーヤーはフェーズ1から応募の必要なく参加できる。「FFXIV: 新生エオルゼア」のαテスト参加者もできるだけ早めに優先的にプレイできるようにするという。またフェーズ3からはプレイステーション3版のテストもスタートする。「ファイナルファンタジーFXIII」のパッケージについていた、βテスト優先参加チケットを持っていれば優先的に参加することができる。フェーズ3からは「現行FFXIV」のアカウント所持者は全員無条件でテストに参加できるようになる。CBTの後には、無条件で誰でも参加できるオープンβテストも予定されている。
αテストからのキャラクターデータの引継ぎはなく、CBT中もフェーズごとにデータはデリートされる。ワールド数は当初は10～15ワールドで、フェーズ3以降順次増やしていく。キャラクターレベルは35まで開放される。それぞれのフェーズでどんなことがテストされるかについては、以下の通りだ。βテストの応募方法やスケジュール、各フェーズの詳細は2013年1月上旬にオープン予定の「新生FFXIV βテスター応募サイト」で発表される。
